One of the questions we hear most from families planning a reunion in Lombok is: “Is five days actually enough to see everything?” The answer is yes — five days is plenty of time to experience the mountains, Sasak culture, and Gili island hopping without rushing, as long as the route is built the right way.
Below is a sample 5D4N itinerary we’ve designed specifically for big, multi-generational families — from toddlers to grandparents — based on a hotel pickup in the Senggigi area.
Day 1: Arrival & Settling in at Senggigi
- Airport pickup at Lombok International Airport (LOP) in a vehicle sized to your group.
- Check-in at your hotel or villa in the Senggigi area.
- A relaxed sunset evening at Senggigi Beach — an easy, accessible spot for elderly family members, with plenty of beachfront cafés to unwind in.
- Group dinner at a local restaurant (reserved in advance so there’s no waiting around with a large party).
Day one is intentionally kept light, with no strenuous activities, so the whole family — especially kids and grandparents — can ease into the trip before the real exploring begins.
Day 2: Sasak Culture & Village Life
- Visit a traditional Sasak village to see authentic traditional houses and watch Lombok’s signature hand-weaving process up close.
- Stop by a scenic green tourism village — a favorite spot for big family photos against a backdrop of rice fields and rolling hills.
- Lunch featuring local Sasak specialties (Ayam Taliwang and Plecing Kangkung) at a local restaurant.
- Return to the hotel in the afternoon to rest, or an optional light city tour around Mataram.
Day 3: Sembalun & Rinjani Highlands
- Morning drive up to Sembalun, the highland region at the foot of Mount Rinjani.
- Enjoy the cool mountain air and sweeping green hillside views — a family favorite for photos, thanks to the wide-open scenery.
- Lunch with a mountain view.
- Optional: a short, light waterfall walk for family members who still have energy to spare.
- Return to Senggigi in the evening.
Note: this is the longest travel day on the itinerary, so we keep the schedule unhurried to avoid tiring out younger kids and older travelers.
Day 4: Island Hopping in the Gilis
- Morning boat crossing to the Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, or Gili Meno, depending on your family’s preference).
- Snorkeling at shallow, beginner- and kid-friendly reef spots, with gear and life jackets provided.
- Free time to relax on the beach, swim, or simply enjoy the clear water.
- Lunch on the boat or on the island.
- Underwater photo and video documentation to capture the family memories.
- Return to Senggigi in the late afternoon.
Day 5: Free Time & Departure
- A relaxed morning, final family breakfast together, and time to pack.
- Optional stop at a local souvenir shop for Lombok pearls, handwoven textiles, or seaweed dodol before heading to the airport.
- Transfer to Lombok International Airport for your departure flight.

Why This Route Works for Big Families
Unlike a generic itinerary built for backpackers or young couples, this route is deliberately designed with multi-generational travel in mind:
- No two back-to-back intense activity days — every active day is followed by something more relaxed.
- Realistic daily travel distances, instead of cramming too many destinations into one day.
- Built-in flexibility at several points (light hikes, free time) so family members with different fitness levels can all enjoy the trip at their own pace.
